This is the inspiring story of Libby who was rescued just two days away from a tragic fate - her journey to recovery is nothing short of miraculous. Libby was living in a shelter and had a severe ear infection which was causing her immense pain. The infection was not only affecting her quality of life, but also posed a serious risk to her overall well-being.
Henrico Humane Society stepped in to help, because that’s what we do! Many of the sick or injured animals in shelters get overlooked, but we try to rescue as many as we possibly can.
Libby was taken to see Dr. Amy Gifford of James River Vet, whose expertise and dedication plays a pivotal role in Libby’s story. While the usual practice is to treat one ear at a time, Dr. Gifford recognized the urgency of Libby's condition and operated on both ears simultaneously to give her the best possible outcome. The complicated surgery cost over $5,000 - the generosity of our donors enabled us to provide Libby the opportunity for a brighter future.
Libby is recovering from her surgery well and is looking forward to finding her forever home. If you’re interested in adopting this precious pup, please email dogs@henricohumane.org.
