Spay RVA

Henrico Humane Society participates in SPAY RVA – a spay/neuter program created for pet owners who cannot afford the cost of surgery to spay or neuter their pet. The program allows pet owners to have their pet spayed or neutered at participating spay/neuter clinics and HHS pays the bill.

This program is effective in helping owners who might otherwise re-home their pet or have unplanned litters of kittens or puppies that could have been prevented by spaying or neutering.

Why this matters

Spaying and neutering your pet is one of the most important things you can do to help keep your four-legged family member happy and healthy. There are multiple low cost spay/neuter clinics in the Richmond Area.

Average Costs:

  • Cat spay $40-$60 / neuter $30-$45

  • Dog spay $50-$145 / neuter $40-$125.

You can contact any of the clinics below to find out about pricing and get on their call list for an appointment.

  • Prevent a Litter - https://preventalitter.org - In addition to low cost spays/neuters for cats/dogs/rabbits, PAL has programs to provide free spays/neuters for feral cats and pit bull type dogs.

  • Richmond Animal League's Loving Spay Neuter Clinic - https://www.ral.org/our_clinic/ - In addition to offering low cost spays/neuters and vaccinations for cats/dogs, RAL has a program to provide free spays/neuters for feral cats.

If you do not think you can afford the costs above, please consider applying to our Spay RVA program.

UPDATE: We have temporarily paused accepting Spay RVA applications until 2024.
