Peanut's Perseverance

Peanut the tiny kitten came to us with her 3 spunky siblings in April, and it quickly became clear to her foster that something was not quite right. What was thought to be just tummy troubles took a scary turn when it was discovered that her entire digestive system hadn’t developed properly.

The vet was amazed she’d made it to 7 weeks old – clearly this little gal was a fighter – but without immediate surgery, she would not survive. Dr. Woodhouse and the phenomenal team at Mechanicsville Animal Hospital undertook the complicated and high-risk surgery. Peanut made it through the procedure with flying colors however, due to her condition’s complexity, it was determined she needed to have a second surgery.  Peanut is making a full recovery and is almost ready for her next adventure. She continues to amaze us with her perseverance and strength, proving that even the small can be mighty!

HHS helps many animals like little Peanut every year, often at considerable expense.   Her surgeries cost over $1,000 and since her adoption fee will only be $125, the balance needs to come from donations and fundraising efforts.  Please donate to our Cash for Cats campaign to help us provide more cats like Peanut with the lifesaving medical care they need to live a full and happy life!
