Annie Pete
Annie & Pete

Notes:     05/30/06:
Pete and Annie are doing great.  Now that the weather's warm, they are spending a lot of time on the screen porch.  Annie chatters at the birds, Pete just swishes his tail.  They love to chase each other around the house - sounds like bowling balls down the hall - we call it "romper room"!  Pete and our dog Campi have bonded and they actually play together now.  I've never seen anything like it.

You would not believe how BIG Pete has gotten!  I thought they were nearly grown when we got them....Annie grew a little, Pete grew a lot!  They are both sweet, sweet, sweet, lots of fun and we are so glad to have them as part of our family.  They have settled in perfectly.

  12/19/05:
Just a note to let you know Pete and Annie are doing fine. They are both dears. Annie is the bed cat and Pete is the lap cat.  Everyone is getting along great, including with our Miss Campi-dog.

Danny Boy Danny Boy

This is your long lost pal Danny Boy writing to tell you I'm in good hands and doing well. I miss all my friends at the Humane Society but have really enjoyed getting settled in with my new parents and step brother Bailey. He's a tiger cat. We moved out of our townhouse in Richmond out to the country in West Point. My dad built me a perch in the window so I sit and watch the birds. I was originally adopted to help calm down my new brother Bailey who was very playful but I think things backfired. I'm much more playful and love my toys and to wrestle with Bailey and I even lost a little weight. We live next door to a groomer so I go once a month for my spa treatment; you know.... a little shampoo, manicure, and a good ear cleaning. I've attached a picture of me and my brother. It's our Halloween picture and looks pretty cool with our eyes glowing like that. Time for a nap. I hope you are doing well.
Love,
Danny Boy

Checkers Checkers

Notes:   Just a quick note to let you know that Checkers is wonderful.  He fits perfectly into our family!  There couldn't be a better match for Brian and I.  I am attaching pictures of Checkers resting in one of his favorite spots!

Monroe Monroe

Notes:   I'm just writing to let you know that Monroe (I decided that Monroe was a great name and decided to stick with it) is doing fine in his new home. Monroe and Tequila ate out of the same food dish on his third day here. They get along wonderfully, and Tequila is much happier having a playmate. I tried to get some action shots of them playing, but they move too quickly, and I can never get a clear picture. The two of them are never more than a few feet apart, and they're a blast to play with. Thanks for providing me with this cute little cat!!
-Monroe's new Owner.

Calli Calli

Notes:   Just a little note to let you know that Calli is doing great. My daughter just loves her to death. She is a wonderful kitten and we are so happy that we found her. Calli has a great temperament and tolerates allot and doesn't mind play with a 4 year old. She follows me everywhere and is always under my feet and curling up with me on the couch. Just wanted to keep you informed that she is doing fine. I so glad that she picked me, since whoever adopted her first had brought her back. We wouldn't trade her for anything.
Thanks again.
Noralee

Ben Jerry
Ben & Jerry

Notes:   Ben and Jerry are so cool! They love the dogs and ran right up to them and tried to touch noses with them and rub on them to be friends. I have never seen anything like it. Bob and I were standing there, astounded and amazed. The dogs were confused at first, but they are learning slowly that these cats have come to play.

These cats are not shy or afraid of anything. They made themselves at home and acted as if they've been living here for their whole life within half an hour. Instant cats! They are so cute as they love to play with lots of toy mice up and down the stairs. They carry them around in their mouths. They wrestle and pounce on each other-- it's so adorable. They are lovable and purr so loud. They love being with people and the dogs all the time and they are always around whether it is for a cat nap or playing kitty games.

I am so lucky to have such good cats! Thank you so much to you and the Humane Society to match me up with the perfect cats for our two dog family! Sally was right-- they are awesome!
Many thanks.

Sherwood Sherwood

Notes:   We lost our sweet Smudge to heart failure on April 26, 2002. Smudge had been part of our family for 13 years. Dusty, our other kitty, was very lonely and she would look in closets and under the bed for Smudge. We decided that Dusty needed a companion. I work with Sally Rice who has been a foster mother to many a kitty-in-need. I asked her if she had any kittens to place. Bingo! She said she had just the kitten for me. His name was Sherwood; he was black with just a little bit of white under his chin and on his belly. He had been born at the pound, and was the runt of the litter. My husband and I visited Sally's home to meet Sherwood. It was love and playtime at first site. And shortly thereafter, Sherwood became known as Woody. W-o-o-d-y. Here Woody, Woody, Woody. That is how we call our youngest household feline. He does not understand kitty, kitty, kitty. He just looks at you, like "duh, you know my name, use it". He weighs 11 pounds and is one of the friendliest and loving cats we have ever owned. His favorite toys are 'mousies', and his favorite human snack food is popcorn. We (including Dusty) are so thankful that he was one of the lucky ones rescued and had such a good, loving foster home. He has earned a special place in our hearts and home.

Wrigley Wrigley

Notes:   Hey all- Just wanted to give you an update on Skittles. We adopted this litte guy in the beginning of May 2003. I knew I wanted him the minute Marie told me the sad story of how he got "beat-up" at home by the other cats. He was so scared the first week. But he is doing so well! He acclimated immediately to us and to the other cats. About 3 weeks ago we started introducing him to the other cats, and they are all good friends now. There is the occasional temper tantrum, but this morning I caught Skittles (who we are now calling Wrigley) asleep on the bed cuddled up next to Mischief (the dominant female cat). Wrigley loves to roam around the house, and sit with us on the couch when we are eating dinner, and has already taught himself to use the other cats' litterbox and food box. He is always playing with something, and is so self-confident. He is an absolute joy to have in the house. While he still tends to be skittish, he just loves to cuddle. He has even let himself been held (for about 10 seconds), but he is getting there. Just let Marie know that he is thriving, and we love him so much!
Thanks so much for everything you do.

Vangogh Vangogh

Notes:   Date: Thu, 26 Jun 2003 15:43:42 -0400 Hey, Wanted to say hello for Vangogh...(these days he's actually going by Milo) Since I adopted him in Mach 2003 he has brought such joy to my life. It took him a good two weeks to stop hiding under my bed but now we are inseparable. He's always waiting at the door for me to get home, he loves to help me get ready for work, and loves to snuggle close when it's nighttime.
Thanks so much for helping me find this special guy!
Sincerely Totty

Chester Chester AKA Ahab

Notes:   Hi guys! Just wanted to give you all an update on "Chester" AKA Ahab. We adopted this little guy at PetSmart on 3/24. He is an orange tabby that was lethargic acting (I think from his neutering and shots), and seemed bored with the whole adoption process. We brought him home and within 5 minutes he was FULL of life and let us know he was more than happy to live here! He plays with everything to include our 150 lb. Great Dane. It's hilarious to see them chase each other! He has the longest tail I've ever seen on any cat! We measured it at 13 inches!! I've attached a picture of him yawning - but I think is an absolutely adorable picture! I'm also trying to attach one more.
Thanks for everything!
Alice

Petunia Mel Mel
Mel & Petunia

Notes:   Hello -
I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with my newly adopted cat. I adopted Petunia, now Priscilla, about three weeks ago at your PETsMART cat adoption event. She was very shy and afraid around people, and I was told that she would need extra time and work to bring her around. For a while, she was afraid of us and would run if we came near her but she loved playing with our other new cat. I was getting worried that she would not come around. However, I was happily surprised when she finally let me pet her as long as she approached me while I was sitting. I was so excited! Now she jumps up to sit on my lap or beside me whenever she feels like it and even lets out a her little meow if she wants to be petted! I can even pet her while I'm standing up as long as I approach her calmly. She is still shy and afraid of loud noises and other people, but she has come a long way. Now she follows me around the apartment! She has changed so much in these last few weeks and I am expecting that she will grow even more comfortable with us as time goes on. I'm just going to let her do it at her own pace - that's how she seems to like it. I am so happy and thrilled with Priscilla that I constantly update my friends and family (whether they want to hear it or not) about her behavior. I wanted to thank you for fostering this special cat and allowing me to share my life with her.
Sincerely,
Melinda

Mandy

Notes:   Liberty is now Mandy, short for Amanda. We have a young lady in our church named Amanda who nearly lost her life a couple of years ago. She has dark black hair and large expressive eyes much like our Liberty/Mandy. The vet was pleased with Mandy's visit yesterday. She is eating well and drinking well and the outcome of both is large so we know her systems are all "go"! She and Misty did have an encounter this AM but I let them solve it on their own. Mandy wants to be boss and Misty isn't about to give up her "Queen Bee" status! My life wouldn't be complete without cats! Who knows, I may someday decide to adopt another!

Courage

Notes:   Hi Sally- great news! I just got of the phone with Alison and she told me that the kittens were settling REALLY well and were having a time with her kids! They got up at 6 asking Allison where the kittens were! Imagine that! She said that Courage especially was the butterball! They've been running around and playing and now are taking their mid-morning nap! -Just thought you would love to know! This adoption is working out great!

Candy

Notes:   I just wanted to let you know that Candy is just fine. My older cat took to her right away. My female cat is still trying to get used to her. She is still hissing at her, but Candy is hissing right back. She is the sweetest thing. She curled up beside me last night and just purred her little heart out. She took to the liter box right away. She will be very spoiled. Just wanted to let you know. Have a great day and thank you for my new baby girl.
Kathy

Mr. Tyler

Notes:   Hello all at HHS, Just wanted to update you on Tyler, or Mr. Tyler as he is now called. He is doing very well. He has quickly become an important part of our lives. He loves to sit in the windows of the house when they are open and patrol what is going on in his yard. Any box I bring into the house quickly becomes and entire amusement park for him. He gets his daily tarter control cat treats and has now learned how to sit. He has also claimed a spot on the sofa and in the bed at night. I can't thank you enough for letting me adopt him. He is a great little buddy! I will have some pictures of him soon!
Stacy

Squeeky

Notes:   He is really enjoying his new home; he spent the night with us on our bed and was taking cat naps all afternoon and early evening. Of course, that was in between games of hide-and-seek up the stairs and down. He seems really happy to have found a new home. We're considering changing is name to 'Shadow' for two reasons: 1) because it's ironic with him being albino, and 2) because he follows us every where we go just like our shadow. He sure is a fun little guy.

Oliver

Notes:   Hannibal (Now renamed Oliver - I stole that from another cat) is doing great. He is excellent. Very smart cat indeed, must be the manx in him. He is happy, spoiled, and doing well. I know he is not due for a vet visit for weeks, but I always take my cats early and we go this weekend. I want to say thank you to everyone involved. I am once again a happy guy with one cool little partner. I appreciate all your time and efforts to help me find such an excellent cat. I owe ya one. Les

Pepper Pepper

Notes:   Just wanted to drop a brief note to thank Henrico Humane for this little rascal who has quickly become a part of our home! We adopted Pepper (formerly "Murphy") on 12/23 at PetSmart. I was aware of all the warnings about not adopting a pet a Christmastime, but I'm a 56- year old grandmother who wanted a kitten for herself! I just recently lost my 19-yr old cat who did not get along with my 4 Pomeranians. I hoped a younger kitten would adapt to life with the dogs. Pepper has been such a joy right from the start. He has so much personality! He's not intimidated by the dogs, and he doesn't threaten them either. In fact, lately they've been greeting each other nose to nose, and I expect to see them at play at any moment. This lively young'un has really livened up our home! I didn't realize until just a few days ago that kittens give kisses. What a thrill! Thanks again for allowing us to adopt this little treasure!
Sincerely,
Pat

Cameo Cameo

Notes:   Brittany now Cameo adopted by Martha. This is a very nice cat. And it is a shame that she had been injured. I found the tail trouble but she holds it correctly and wags evenly so it has not hampered her. She is a love. She goes out into the house but likes "her room" still. The little Princess seems to be coming into her own. She is still a little hand shy but has a very good sense of herself. Last night I was settling down into my bed in my room with the fluffy pillows and the comforter and the remote control getting ready for a nice visit with Will and Grace when this imperious howl came from the guest room. She had no intention of sleeping alone. So --- I dragged my rusty self across the baby gate and piled into the guest bed with her royal highness and we went promptly to sleep. I have let her have the run of the house with the dog put up and she did beautifully and sat in every one of the chairs and ended on the back of the sofa as if she had always been there.
SHE IS GREAT!
Martha

Cookie

Notes:   I thought you might like to know that Cookie has decided to make an appearance. He came out and jumped up on the bed with me and rubbed, rubbed, rubbed. He was on his back letting me brush his belly, and was purring like a band. Meanwhile, Duncan the cocker spaniel was two feet away, watching curiously and warily. I have not told the dog that either of the cats is declawed, so he remains cautious. Cookie and Domino (the other cat) have eyed each other warily, but have decided to postpone any confrontation. Neither has hissed or anything. Whenever they meet, they each go in the opposite directions. Soon they'll be buds. Now I just have to coax Cookie out of the bedroom. He likes Fancy Feast and treats and Friskies Dental Diet, so that should not be too difficult. Thanks! I think he will be a valuable addition to my little three species family of neutered males!
